It's Ribfest Weekend!

We are excited for this long weekend. Come out, bring your family and friends and say hi!  There will be great entertainment and of course delicious corn on a cob!

On Tuesday we had an informal board induction. We thank our ADG Tommy Wegge for coming to our meeting and introducing the new board. In the future we will work on making this special occasion more formalized and give the respect it deserves. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to all the board members for your hard work and dedication in helping lead this great club.

I encourage you all to read the minutes of the 2022-2023 Club Induction Ceremony and would like to thank Cathy Henry for preparing them.

Please also take a look at the Speakers and Upcoming Events on the right. We are working on finalizing some great speakers for the month of August and September. If you have any suggestions please let us know. Rob Nicholson always has great stories about travelling the world representing Canada. Every-time I hear him tell these stories, he always leaves me more proud to be living in this great Country. We are lucky to be living in country such as this and his stories inspire us to continue to do great things in the community and around the world while making Canada proud. We have also invited one of our "new" members to give his classification talk. Joey Trussell is doing amazing things with youth and helping them out of hard times. We are very lucky to have him as a member of our club and can't wait to hear more about what he does.

On another note, as a sign of respect for our speakers, I ask that you please arrive on time so you can place your beverage and food order. We will ask the server to take the orders between 12:00 PM and 12:15 PM. If for whatever reason you are late, please place your order outside the room as to not interrupt the speaker. Also please note that the whole hospitality industry is going through a staff shortage and Cats Caboose is no exception. So we ask for your patience and understanding when it may seem like is taking a long time to get your order. They have generously provide us with the room for our meetings every week. If you are in a hurry, please let your server know when you place your order and they will be happy to do what they can to accommodate your request. We love the food and service at Cats Caboose an all that they do for us. So please let us be patient and understanding.

The social committee has also been working on putting great events for all to enjoy. I'm very grateful for their hard work in making these events happen. So please, RSVP as soon as your can and please attend these events and get to know your fellow Rotarians.

The Corn Booth committee has also done a great job at filling out the shifts for the Ribfest. This year we have a lot of students helping us and we are very grateful for that, as we don't know what we would have done without their help. If you have signed up to volunteer for a a shift please accept my sincere thanks as this is one of our major fundraisers for the year and I understand the time and effort you are giving in making this event happen.

The international committee is also working very hard in raising funds for the Trust for Malnutrition and Stunted Growth. A trust that was co-founded by our club. As you read Najeeb's update on how we changing children's lives, please also think on how you can help.

I would also like to encourage all the Rotarians, family and friends to come and visit us at our corn booth this weekend. I hear that the corn is sweeter this year, plus the entertainment will be amazing and let's not forget the great food that will also be available.

Our next meeting will be the Tuesday following the Ribfest, that's August 2nd, 2022. We understand that a lot of you would have worked really hard through out the long weekend so the meeting will make the meeting an informal one. You don't have to feel obligated to be there but it will be great to have your company there. We will catch up with each other and enjoy of each other's company.

This is going to be a great week and weekend.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the Ribfest!

Yours in Rotary,
