Kris Akilie, chairing the meeting in President John's absence, commented on what a delicious lunch it was.
INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS AND VISITING ROTARIANS
Rob Kozub introduced Ann Mantini-Celima, our guest speaker, and Joel Chatterton from the Rotary Club of St. Catharines.
SERGEANT-AT-ARMS
Keith Shaver, serving as Sergeant-at-Arms, thanked everyone for their kind words of condolences on the passing of his mother-in-law. Keith then accepted happy dollars from:
Beth Cockcroft
- thought the Grape and Wine Festival Parade was the best yet and thoroughly enjoyable;
Ed Telenko - sad that Hamilton Tiger Cats lost and that he was not there. Ed was also happy that his art show went very well;
Sheila Bristo - was happy that Bob represented our club at District Conference;
Joel Chatterton - was happy that this year's Grape and Wine Festival Parade was terrific and his family is enjoying the stay of an exchange student from Belgium;
Laetitia de Witt - was glad that Bob enjoyed himself at District Conference;
Bob McKay - enjoyed the District Conference and met a Rotarian very involved in water projects. Bob hopes that she will come down to speak to our club. Bob is also pleased that his daughter Kathy got engaged to a very nice man;
Roseanne Morissette - enjoyed her GSE guest from South Korea who is a Director of International Trade with the City of DongHae;
Ernesto Carrillo - is happy that he was going to visit his son in Greece;
Ann Mantini - happy to be with us today and finished her first ½ marathon in her goal of two hours and 28 minutes;
Don Beard - thanked Ernesto, Elisabeth, Beth, and Julio for assisting at Bingo;
Jim Hooper - enjoyed the parade with his children, but was concerned when a Shriner's car went out of control. Luckily, no one was hurt;
Jim Howes - happy that all wines have been secured for the Take It To Heart Gala on November 13th, 2010;
Keith Shaver - congratulated Sheila on her 25th wedding anniversary!
ROTARY MINUTE
Kris Akilie spoke of the new avenue of service - # five: New Generatons, and how important the young new members are to the future of Rotary.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
September 29th, Deadline for Paul Harris Fellow Nominations - Rob Welch requested that any nominations for this year's Paul Harris Fellowship be in by Wednesday at noon.
October 2nd, Bingo - Don Beard requested assistance.
October 18th Club Assembly - time and venue to be announced by Jason Pollock.
November 13th, Take It To Heart Gala - Cathy reminded everyone that the gala is fast approaching and that people need to let her know if they were coming and if they are placing a donation to the lab.
Sick and Visiting - Arie called a meeting of the Sick and Visiting committee for after the meeting.
