Announcements

Cathy represented our club at the Probus 25 year anniversary celebrations and presented them with a congratulatory certificate. Bob McBride, as the founding sponsor from our club reminisced about the start up of the club 25 years ago. Mr. Currie- the new president asked me to relay to you that Probus St. Cathrines has “grown up” and is doing well thanks, in part, to our continued support.

Board meeting - it is with great regret that we accepted Laetitia De Witt’s resignation from our club. She felt that, with her severe time restraints she was not able to contribute fully to any club so did not even request a transfer. This is indeed Rotary’s loss. However, with all her commitments to our club over her eleven years with us and to Rotary International in various capacities- we voted to award her the distinction of Honourary member.

Bingo - John Teibert - Last bingo went very well.

Garage Sale - Lynn - $1,367.05 - congratulations on a job well done. Starbucks was kind enough to donate the coffee for this event.

Big Brothers/Big Sisters - Cathy - Mike Gionet is joining me and we are both being arrested on September 19th - help keep us out of jail. It would not look good to see 2 Rotary South members pining away in a jail cell.

Grape and Wine Festival Parade - Arie - A huge thank you to Mark Beaudry for designing the banner that will be carried by the Youth Exchange students in the parade. If anyone would like to walk beside the students—it is September 28th.

Happy Hour - Arie - Wildfire - Ontario Street - bring you spouses, significant others, friends, potential new members - it promises to be a lot of fun.

Paul Harris Awards Luncheon - Shafee - November 25th - Golf Club

2013 District Assembly - October 25th - 27th - Marriott Gateway Hotel, Niagara Falls. On Line registration is now available on the new RI web site.
Joe Persha, member of the Brantford Club Sunrise was on hand to present.

Over 60 Outstanding Citizens Evening - Arie

Polio Plus - there is an opportunity to get involved with a Polio eradication trip to India in February 2014, If anyone is considering getting more involved than just through our club financial donations- please let me know and I will link you to PDG Wally Ochterski. Rotary International has just donated another $500,000.00 towards eradication of polio in Somalia. Polly, the Polio Piggy was introduced for Polio Plus.

Peter Partridge, the new performing arts centre's Fundraising Cabinet Chairman

GUEST SPEAKER - Peter Partridge

The $60-million centre is expected to open in the fall of 2015 and it will include a 775-seat main concert hall and three smaller venues for dance, live theatre and film. It will be located in the downtown core and near Brock University’s new Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts.
