The Rotary Club of St. Catharines South recently made a generous donation of $750 CDN to Let There Be Light International, an organization dedicated to providing renewable and reliable energy to vulnerable communities. Let There Be Light International's mission is to combat energy poverty and promote environmental justice through the donation of solar lights to off-grid communities in Africa.
Sarah Baird, the Executive Director and Founder of Let There Be Light International, expressed her gratitude to the Rotary Club for their donation, which will support solar programming in Uganda, Kenya, and Malawi. The funds will go towards solar-electrifying rural health clinics, donating solar lights to new mothers through Safe Births + Healthy Homes, and ongoing solar projects for elders, orphans, and people living with disabilities. Let There Be Light International has already impacted over one million people through their solar projects over the past 8 years and aims to reach two million people by 2026.
The donation from the Rotary Club of St. Catharines South will contribute to the organization's goal of providing safer, healthier, and more productive lives to those living without or with unreliable access to electricity. Let There Be Light International believes in the power of solar energy to transform lives and safeguard the environment. By becoming a Solar Hero and supporting their efforts, the Rotary Club of St. Catharines South is helping vulnerable communities shine on.
