Congratulations to Najeeb Syed, a very active member of our club and the chair of the International Committee who in the last month has raised over $45,000 to help feed Pakistan Flood victims.
The positive effect that one person's passion and dedication can have on a world disaster. When Najeeb Syed heard about the suffering being caused by the 2022 floods in Pakistan he sprung into action. Najeeb got on the phone and contacted all his friends and started to raise money to help the flood victims. At his expense, he travelled to various cities to raise money for this worthwhile cause. As of today, he has raised over $45,000. they have used part of this money to buy 640 cartons of RUTF. Each cartons contains 150 meals.

What is RUTF?

RUTF (Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food) fortified peanut paste that’s been carefully formulated to provide all of a child’s basic nutritional needs. It has been heralded by Doctors Without Borders as a miraculous cure for children suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM). These are children whose malnutrition is so acute that the most likely prognosis is death. RUTF can bring these children back from the brink of death.

RUTF has been revolutionary because it does not require water, refrigeration or preparation, which makes it the ideal product for treating children with SAM in their communities.

The Rotary Club of St. Catharines South with the help of other rotary clubs around the world have set up a trust to provide RUTF packets to malnourished children and mothers in Pakistan.
