"Over 1.2 million members make Rotary big. Diversity makes Rotary great. Each Rotarian in this network of leaders offers singular talents, interests, life experiences, and professional expertise. The common denominator: a commitment to the principle of Service Above Self. Know someone who could wear the Rotary brand?"
-- from the October 2005 Rotarian

GUEST SPEAKER

Dan Toppari introduced Ron Kozub of the St. Catharines South Robin Hood as the guest speaker, who delivered a classification talk on his hobby, Archery.

Ron owns and operates the Wine Garden of Pelham, a make-your-own wine facility. Ron joined Rotary in 1985, was President in 1992, and is currently the Club's secretary. He is married to Donna and has three children and four grandchildren.

Ron has had an interest in archery since he was eight years old. Back then, he cheered for the Indians in Cowboy and Indian movies. One of his favourite movies is the Errol Flyn classic, "The Legend of Robin Hood."

Ron formalized his hobby by joining an archery league. His wife, Donna, also eventually joined. Donna still holds the provincial record for her age and equipment category.

The bow and arrow is one of the world's oldest weapons and is common to every civilization. The 20th century has seen a lot of technological improvements to the equipment - lighter, faster, stronger, more accurate, etc.

Ron showed off his current equipment and explained what the various components did and the targets he shoots at. Ron's passion for the sport was clearly evident in his presentation.

Ron answered questions from the members and was thanked by President McKay.

ATTENDANCE REPORT

Norris Brown announced 24 members, two make-ups, and four guests for 75 per cent attendance.

ADJOURNMENT

As there was no further business, President McKay adjourned the meeting at 1:30 p.m.
