Norris Brown introduced the following guests: Della Heeney, guest of Dan Toppari, and Doug Draper, Guest Speaker, to be introduced by Matt Taylor. 

SERGEANT-AT-ARMS

Bob McBride, serving as Sergeant-at-Arms, (in jest) fined:
Norris Brown
for unconstructive criticism;
the Executive for not sending Bob copies of the bulletin through the mail;
Laetitia de Witt for organizing galas so that she can dance; and
Brian Radford
for interrupting!

Bob McBride, serving as Sergeant-at-Arms, accepted Happy Dollars from:
John Klassen who surpassed his wife at golf;
George Fitzpatrick who visited Paris recently and did not realize there was rioting, and whose acquaintance, Elizabeth de Verteuil, is part of the GSE team going to Sweden;
Jim Howes who recently celebrated his 44th wedding anniversary;
Ed Telenko who is happy the Hamilton Ti-Cats games are over;
Greg McDonald - DM's senior football team recently won a game and are having their best season in 15 years;
Kim Payne who recently became a Rotarian and whose son, a Junior Falconer, recently won a game;
Brian Radford whose son recently got engaged;
Don Hetherington, whose staff member, Colleen Hardie, is on the GSE Team to Sweden;
Bob McBride whose son coached a winning football game at Collegiate;
Della Heeney who recently attended a zoning by-law meeting on Glendridge Avenue;
Andrew Bowles who attended the season opening of Chorus Niagara.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

President Bob announced the following:

Dr. Don Fraser
(a 50-year Rotarian of the St. Catharines Downtown who was instrumental in the formation of the Lakeshore Club and the Rotary Club of St. Catharines South) will be honoured on November 11th, 2005 at Club Roma. Tickets are $45. Contact Joyce at 905-684-3500, ext. 34.

Hospice Niagara Winter Dreams V is this weekend, November 12, 2005. Tickets are sold out! Congratulations and thanks to organizers June Manning, Jim Howes, Laetitia de Witt, Ian Forbes, and George Fitzpatrick. 

District 7090 is hosting an Annual Foundation Dinner on November 18, 2005
at Salvatore's Italian Gardens Restaurant in Depew, New York. Keynote Speaker is Carolyn Jones, RI Director, and the first woman to be appointed as such in the 88 years of Foundation history. Interested Rotarians should contact Bob McKay ASAP. 

There is a Club Assembly on November 21, 2005 at the St. Catharines Club. Rob Welch is organizing. Attitude adjustment starts at 6 p.m. with dinner following at 7:00 p.m.

St. Catharines Inner Wheel Club is hosting a Starry Night Dinner Dance on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at 91 Lakeshore Road in St. Catharines. Tickets are $50. each. Proceeds to the Niagara Health System for breast cancer research and kidney dialysis. For tickets, contact Thelma 905-892-0896 or Patti 905-732-6975.

Other Announcements 

Greg McDonald
announced that our Club Bingo is Saturday, November 12, 2005 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Don Beard and Bob McBride have volunteered. Another volunteer is needed. Please contact Greg.  

Jason Pollock announced that he is interested in organizing a group outing to a Raptors game in either December or January and asked for a show of hands to gauge interest.

BIRTHDAYS

Ed Telenko's birthday was celebrated (November 9, 2005). Best wishes for a happy year, Ed!

50/50 DRAW

David Cooperman drew the winning ticket and received the wine (which he graciously gave to George Fitzpatrick!).  

EARLY LEAVERS

Don Hetherington, Jason Pollock, Kim Payne, and George Fitzpatrick expressed their regrets to our President and Guest Speaker and took early leave of the meeting. 

GUEST SPEAKER

Matt Taylor introduced our guest speaker, Mr. Doug Draper, who has been working as a journalist in Niagara for the past 25 years. See related story for details.
