Two wonderful presentations by Vocational Services Director Laetitia de Witt and Rotarian Doug Foss made for an interesting club meeting on Monday, July 25th, 2005.

Norris Brown reported that Visiting Rotarians included Peter Snodgrass from Brantford, and Shannon and Ella Foss, daughters of Doug Foss. 

 

Sergeant-at-Arms

Doug Foss, our Sergeant-at-Arms, noted the following Happy Dollars:

From Norris Brown - for how nice it is to see young people at Rotary;

From John Klassen - for no particular reason;

From Elizabeth Spann - for her two weeks vacation;

From Ed Telenko - for a greatly improved Ti Cats team;

From Bob McKay - whose daughter is home from Ireland;

From Shannon Foss - who is happy to go swimming after the meeting;
From Ella Foss - who is happy to go back to school;

From Paul Massuet - for meeting with the Di Paulo's from the Blaisdale Club;

From Dan Toppari - for the 160 cases of chips delivered to his house!  

      

Doug Foss, our Sergeant-at-Arms, noted the following fines:

Rib Fest 2005:

Bob and Dan reported that their committee met concerning Rib Fest last week. The event, which will be held July 29th to July 31stat Montebello Park, promises to be very successful. Last year, 50,000 people attended. This year, there are a number of notable bands playing, such as the Downchild Blues Band. We are well-stocked (6,200 bags of chips/45 cases of candy) in anticipation of a good turnout. Donut Diner has donated coffee. We still need volunteers to make this event a success. A schedule has been circulated.   

 

August 1st, No club meeting:

There is no meeting on this coming holiday Monday.

 

August 2nd, Memorial Service for Jack Bailey:

A memorial service for Jack Bailey will be held at St. John's Anglican Church in Jordan at 11 a.m. with visitation at 10 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Ed Telenko presented to the meeting a beautifully framed "Certificate of Recognition," which will be presented to the Bailey family.  

 

August 8th, Club Meeting at Dominic's Restaurant in Thorold:

Our club meeting will be held at Dominic's Restaurant in Thorold. Roseanne Morissette will be giving her classification talk.

 

August 15th, Matt and Georgette Taylor present on Dental Volunteer Month:

Matt and Georgette Taylor will give a presentation on their Dental Volunteer month (April-May 2005) in Mulege, B.S.C., Mexico.

 

August 22nd, Mike Snodden to present on his year in Denmark:

Last year's outgoing exchange student, Mike Snodden, will give a presentation on his year in Denmark.

 

August 29th, Dominic Ventresca to present on senior homes in Niagara:

Dominic Ventresca, coordinator of seniors homes in Niagara, will give a presentation on our aging population, and the care and availability of accommodation for seniors in our region. Meeting is open to spouses and other family members.

September 5th: no meeting (Labour Day)

September 12th: meeting place to be advised

September 19th: Club Assembly

October 10th: no meeting (Thanksgiving)

October 24th: District Governor address

Greg McDonald reported receipts of $4,400. to the end of May. The next bingo session is August 13th. Greg needs three volunteers.
