We welcome all Rotarians, past Rotarians, family, and friends to attend this momentous occasion. It's a time to reflect on the past year and acknowledge the important events and people that have made it a success. It's also a time to look forward to the future and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead for our club. Tanya McCready is not just an entrepreneur and a captivating speaker, but also an individual who embodies the values of perseverance, dedication, and teamwork, which have shaped her extraordinary life journey. Nearly 30 years ago, Tanya and her husband, Hank DeBruin, pivoted from traditional careers to pursue a passion sparked by a husky puppy they adopted. They established Winterdance, a renowned dogsledding company in Haliburton, Ontario. The success of their venture, which now welcomes over 2000 guests each winter, is a testament to their determination and the power of following one's dreams. Tanya's experiences of leading her huskies across thousand-mile races and managing a maple syrup farm have provided her with unique insights into leadership, team building, and overcoming challenges. These principles, although learnt in a wilderness setting, have powerful applications in corporate and community settings alike. Tanya's engaging storytelling style, combined with her exceptional journey, makes her an inspiring speaker that resonates with a diverse audience. Her previous engagement with our club left members mesmerized, reflecting on the powerful parallels between their own leadership experiences and Tanya's unique narrative. As Rotary Club members and friends, attending this meeting will provide an opportunity not only to hear an inspirational story, but also to learn practical lessons about leadership, team building, and resilience that can be applied to our own lives, professions, and service to the community. |
